The Ascensions are based out of St. Stephen, New Brunswick and are dedicated to carrying on the legacy of Southern Gospel in the Maritimes.
That legacy was kept alive and thriving, thanks to the undying dedication of Bill Lapointe and his group, The Gospelaires, who traveled, recorded and promoted that style of music here in Atlantic Canada. With spring and fall concerts, Bill featured some of the top groups, that, The Ascensions have seen and loved over the years.
The Ascensions have eight albums to their credit, including their latest, “No Greater Love", which promises to be their best to date. Their exceptional new lead singer, Matt Linton, has been warmly received by all Ascensions fans. He has quickly added new fans who appreciate his “smooth sound”, coming from a heart of love and worship for God.
With his low bass notes, Burrell Cross, has been an exciting new addition to the group, giving a new dimension to the former trio.
In 2002, they received a “Mercy Award” for “Artist of the Year” from The New Brunswick Gospel Music Hall of Fame and in 2004, received another “Mercy Award” for “Southern Gospel Group” of the year.
The Ascensions are members of “The East Coast Music Association,” and in 2005, received a nomination for “Gospel Recording of the Year”. The Ascensions won the ECMA’s "Gospel Recording of the Year for 2010, for their latest release, ”No Greater Love”!
Their music not only uplifts the spirit and makes you feel good, but its message can change your life!!
